Ko Nakanoyoshi was born: 7.2.56, Fukuoka, Japan
At the age of seven, commenced his study of “Shodo” the ancient art of Japanese calligraphy with artisan Master Hirakawa. Graduated from the Junior Art College of Nagoya, Japan. His calligraphy studies continued with several accomplished calligraphers, including Sensei Takemori in New York City and Sensei Kasetsu in Tokyo.
His artwork has been exhibited on the west and east coasts, and southwestern United States, The private collections in New York City, Chicago, Tucson, Santa Fe and Japan.
2015 - Present: Art exploration, merging encaustic monotype printing with modern brush calligraphy.
2015: Solo exhibition in Sachi Organics, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
2014: The Art of Yoga Banner in The Movement Shala, Tucson, Arizona.
2013: Solo exhibition Brush Spirit with Five Elements: Sumi, Washi, Pigment and Beeswax at The Drawing Studio in Tucson, Arizona.
2005: Solo exhibition Brush Mind: Asian Abstractions, at The Drawing Studio in Tucson, Arizona, where he taught brush calligraphy to artists.
2002, 2001, 2000, 1999 - Selected works in the Japanese Calligraphy Competition (U.S.)
1994: Solo exhibition in Synchronicity Space Gallery in New York City.
1987: Awarded Silver Place at the Art Society Annual Competition.
